BMW Intern
Project Overview
During my nine-month internship, I had the privilege of working in BMW's Research and Development (R&D) department located in Munich as XR Interaction designer.
My primary responsibility was to contribute to an innovative project that sought to integrate virtual reality technology to elevate the driving and riding experience. The focus of the project was dedicated to enhancing the future user interaction through augmented reality (AR) technology, particularly utilizing AR glasses. Our vision aimed to deliver a pioneering upgrade for vehicle interaction experiences within the next 5 to 10 years, with the objective of surpassing the prevailing in-car information interaction model centered around the Central Information Display (CID).
My Role
My primary contribution to this project involves seamlessly integrating the virtual avatar, created using Ready Player Me, with the Unity platform. This comprehensive workflow encompasses character rigging, texture modification, and animation development. In addition to leveraging pre-designed animations, I actively integrate avatars within the work pipeline, enhancing interactivity and immersion experiences. In addition to working on virtual avatars, I played a key role in collaborating on the design and prototyping of the AR interface, applying knowledge in areas such as shader graphs and prototyping with Xreal in Unity.
Ultimately, this demo, named XREAL AIR 2, was showcased at the 2024 CES exhibition in Las Vegas.
